0915 GMT - China's electric-vehicle sector could face a demand challenge in 1Q, HSBC Global Research analysts write in a note. The demand and pricing dynamics are likely to be unfavorable during the quarter, which is typically a low season, they say. Also, there is already some front-loading of purchases in 4Q, given uncertainty over whether the government's trade-in program will be extended to next year, they add. The key event to watch for clues is the Central Economic Work Conference in December, the analysts say. HSBC's preferred picks are BYD, Geely and XPeng due to their solid margins and resilient volumes. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
