0928 ET - Roots' fashion line-ups should help the Canadian clothing retailer counteract consumer weakness and bring back some much needed positive momentum for the brand. In a TD Cowen report, Brian Morrison says like all other retailers, Roots faces a challenging consumer environment but the company's core brands and their more "fashion-forward" product lines appear to be resonating with consumers. This "shift to add a flair of fashion should, along with the resonation of key product lines, support y/y sales growth for the first time in two years." This should support a rise to C$0.05 EPS, compared with C$0.03 a year earlier. "This is not your 'old Roots,'" Morrison says. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
