TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s railway company, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), said it has provided a total capacity of 2,685,760 intercity train seats for the 2025 Christmas and New Year holiday.
KAI’s VP of Public Relations Anne Purba said train tickets are available from December 19, 2024, to January 5, 2025. “The seats available consist of 2,295,360 commercial intercity train seats and 390,400 public service obligation (PSO) seats," she said in an official statement received by Tempo on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
As many as 530,980 seats have been sold as of November 27, Anne said, which represents 19.77 percent of the total available tickets.
The highest sales occurred for December 24, or Christmas Eve, with a total of 41,575 tickets sold, and December 29 with 39,841 tickets sold.
"The number will continue to fluctuate and increase as sales are ongoing. KAI hopes people can swiftly book tickets and plan their holidays carefully, as there are still plenty of train tickets available for the Christmas and New Year holidays," she said.
KAI also noted the highest departure and arrival stations are Pasar Senen, Ketapang, Gambir, Surabaya Pasarturi, Lempuyangan, Surabaya Gubeng, Purwosari, Kiaracondong, Malang, and Purwokerto, among others.
"Reserve your tickets swiftly and enjoy the Christmas and New Year holiday moments with KAI," she added.
