1723 ET [Dow Jones]--Dell continues to face a challenging environment for PC sales but there continues to be hope, in the form of AI. The tech company's 3Q sales come in below expectations, despite surging growth by its servers and networking unit. Meanwhile, in its client solutions group, consumer sales drop 18%. CFO Yvonne McGill says that was weaker than expected and that people are waiting to upgrade their PCs until next year, a refresh cycle that should benefit due to the fact that computers are older and some AI-driven hardware enhancements such as extended battery life. Dell falls 10.4% in late trading to $126.96. (paul.ziobro@wsj.com)
