智通财经APP获悉，据知情人士透露，索尼(SONY.US)正处于开发便携式游戏机的早期阶段，这款游戏机能够让玩家随时随地玩PlayStation 5(简称PS5)游戏。据悉，这款产品旨在扩大索尼的影响力，使其与任天堂争夺便携游戏机市场，并对抗Xbox制造商微软(MSFT.US)可能推出的同类便携式硬件产品。
值得一提的是，知情人士表示，索尼的这款便携式设备可能需要数年时间才能推出，该公司也仍有可能决定不将其推向市场。
索尼的这个想法基于PlayStation Portal，这是该公司于2023年推出的一款8英寸手持设备。索尼在上周宣布为 PlayStation Portal 提供系统更新，新增PS5游戏的云串流Beta功能，意味着用户哪怕没买PS5也能玩PS5游戏。
打造一款能够直接玩PS5游戏的移动设备可能会让索尼的软件更容易上手、吸引更多用户。该公司最近已经朝着这个方向采取了一些措施，包括加大对手机和PC游戏以及在线服务游戏的投入。
每年为游戏行业带来大部分收益的手机游戏如今已被智能手机所主导。任天堂的Switch游戏机通过提供移动和连接电视的多功能性，为自己开辟了一个有利可图的利基市场。Switch新机预计将于2025年发布，并将保持与任天堂现有丰富的Switch游戏库的兼容性，这可能会引发近8年游戏机用户的升级周期。
索尼和微软多年来一直没有推出自己的便携式游戏硬件，它们的产品很受欢迎，但最终都不成功，比如十年前停产的PS Vita和PlayStation portable。
