Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Pacgold Limited (ASX:PGO) Non-Executive Director, Richard Hacker, recently bought AU$135k worth of stock, for AU$0.09 per share. While that isn't the hugest buy, it actually boosted their shareholding by 52%, which is good to see.

Pacgold Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent purchase by Richard Hacker was the biggest purchase of Pacgold shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.084. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

Insider Ownership

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. From our data, it seems that Pacgold insiders own 9.7% of the company, worth about AU$1.1m. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. We do generally prefer see higher levels of insider ownership.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Pacgold Insiders?

It is good to see recent purchasing. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses. While the overall levels of insider ownership are below what we'd like to see, the history of transactions imply that Pacgold insiders are reasonably well aligned, and optimistic for the future.
