'How Much Is Hasbro?' Elon Musk Wants To Know

"How much is Hasbro?"

The short answer: a bit below $9 billion, according to Visible Alpha data.

Why are we telling you this this? Because Elon Musk, Tesla's (TSLA) CEO, among other things—including, as it happens, the world's richest person—on Thursday asked exactly that on his social media platform X.

The question seems to have fueled speculation that Musk would be interested in buying the toy and game company—or, at least, the part of it responsible for the "Dungeons & Dragons" fantasy game, much as other news events have fueled speculation about other possible Musk takeover targets. Among others recently hypothesized: the cable network MSNBC, and Truth Social owner Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT).

"D&D," for its part, is wrapped into Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast segment, which also includes the "Magic: The Gathering" fantasy trading-card game.

Musk's tweet obviously didn't expressly indicate an interest in some kind of deal, but the market's reaction—Hasbro (HAS) stock was recently up about 2% during Friday's holiday-shortened session—illustrates the degree to which the multibillionaire's words can influence markets.
