Simon Property Group (SPG) reported Monday a "strong" start to the holiday season as shopper traffic increased 6.4% year-over-year across its centers during the Black Friday weekend.
Shopper traffic was up 5.9% on Black Friday compared with a year earlier, which accelerated to an 8.2% year-over-year growth on Sunday.
The company's malls saw a 7.1% traffic increase, supported by double-digit sales growth reported by many retailers in its portfolio, according to a company statement.
Simon Property Group shares fell 1.4% in recent trading.
