Amgen on Thursday unveiled plans to spend $1 billion on a second drug-substance manufacturing plant in Holly Springs, N.C., boosting its total planned investment in the town to more than $1.5 billion.
The Thousand Oaks, Calif., biotechnology company, which in 2022 broke ground on a $550 million manufacturing plant in Holly Springs, said its investments will create 370 new jobs in the region.
Amgen said the expansion is part of efforts to meet growing demand for its therapies.
