Chinese new energy vehicle start-up NIO (HKG:9866, SGX:NIO) won against German vehicle manufacturer Audi in their trademark dispute in Australia, Yicai Global reported Thursday.
Australia's Intellectual Property Office dismissed claims that NIO's trademark registration applications for its ES6, ES7 and ES8 NEVs infringed upon Audi's trademark rights, saying there were significant differences in the overall comparison of both parties' trademarks, according to the report.
NIO was previously forced to name the models entering the European market to ES from EL after losing in the first and second trials in Germany, in which Audi alleged NIO's models infringed upon Audi's S6 and S8 trademark rights, Yicai Global wrote.
