BlockBeats 消息，12 月 10 日，微软将于 12 月 11 日 0:30 推进一项关于比特币的重大股东提案——即通过股东投票来评估将比特币纳入资产负债表是否符合股东的长期利益。该项股东提案最初由美国保守派智库国家公共政策研究中心（NCPPR）提交。
NCPPR 当时给出的理由是，在持续通货膨胀期间，一家公司的成功不仅取决于其经营状况，还取决于其利润保值情况。根据消费者价格指数 (CPI)，过去四年美国的平均通货膨胀率为 5%（NCPPR 认为实际通胀率可能更高）。因此，公司除了增加利润外还有保护利润免遭贬值的受托责任，但由于微软将大部分资产均投资于美国政府证券和公司债券，因此未能有效保护其资产免遭贬值，
NCPPR 在提案中强调，虽然比特币具有一定的波动性，但“比特币依然是一种极好的，甚至是最好的通胀对冲工具”，因此建议微软评估至少将 1% 的资产配置为比特币。
