据美联社10日报道，美国总统拜登当天表示，2021年他领导的美国联邦政府向民众发放疫情“救济”支票时，没在支票上印上自己的签名是“愚蠢”的。

拜登提到，美国前总统特朗普在2020年发放支票时就印上了他的名字，并通过这个简单直接的举动得到美国民众的认可。

当地时间12月10日，在美国智库布鲁金斯学会演讲时，拜登发表了上述言论，并为其政府的经济政策辩护。同时，拜登对自己在执行经济刺激计划时未能充分借机进行自我形象宣传而感到后悔。在谈到特朗普的相关做法时，拜登说道：“他在给人们发放的7400美元支票上签上名字……而我没有，真愚蠢。”

据美国《华盛顿邮报》此前报道，2020年美国参议院通过2万亿美元财政刺激计划。美财政部当时宣布，将时任总统特朗普的名字印在国税局（IRS）发放给数千万美国人的支票上。有财政部高官承认，此举会使支票的发放速度慢上几天。报道称，这是美国国税局在支出单中首次印上总统的签名。
