0725 GMT - Clariant has a brighter future after poor 3Q results, thanks to lined-up divestments and an improved macroeconomic environment for the sector, Berenberg analyst Sebastian Bray says in a note. The bruised diversified-chemicals sector looks increasingly interesting for next year due to a robust performance of commodity acrylic acid, he says. Prospects of China stimulus and a strong U.S. economy should also provide a boost, the analyst says. However, "sales growth in the catalysts segment was admittedly disappointing, and overcapacity in the value chain means that a full recovery is not on the cards for 2025," he says. The Swiss chemical company's proceeds from divestments of its equity holdings could plausibly speed up reducing debt, he says. (helena.smolak@wsj.com)
