Hisense Home Appliances Group's (HKG:0921) parent, Hisense Group, may lay off up to 30% percent of staff in two waves, which may amount to 30,000 people being let go, the Standard reported Tuesday.
The decision on the matter is expected next week, with many let go before the Chinese New Year while some will be fired afterward, the publication said, citing an insider.
Some of the employees fired are relatively new to the company. Notices have been served to many employees. However, the employees feel the numbers are exaggerated and much less will be let go, The Standard said.
