Consumer shares were advancing pre-bell Monday, with The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) up 0.2% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) 0.5% higher.
Omnicom Group (OMC) said Monday it will buy The Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) in a stock-for-stock deal likely to close in H2 2025. Omnicom shares were down 3.6% and Interpublic stock was 13% higher pre-bell.
Walt Disney's (DIS) animated film "Moana 2" made a record $600 million from the global box office in its second record weekend, media outlets reported Monday. Disney shares were down 0.3%.
Comcast (CMCSA) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) said Monday they have reached long-term agreements that will deliver Warner Bros.' content to Xfinity and Sky UK and Ireland customers using Comcast's global technology platform. Comcast shares were up 0.4% and Warner Bros. stock was 2.2% higher.
