UnitedHealth Group Inc．高管Brian Thompson曼哈顿被枪杀案疑犯Luigi Mangione反对将自己引渡至纽约接受二级谋杀指控，由此为可能是有年无月的司法程序拉开了序幕。
周二在宾夕法尼亚州的法庭听证会上，被告律师表示他将与任何将其移送至纽约的要求作斗争。曼哈顿12月4日Thompson遇害案发生后，Mangione经过五天的大搜捕最终在宾夕法尼亚州Altoona被捕。
“我的当事人今天在这里不放弃引渡听证，” Mangione的代理律师Thomas M． Dickey说。
这位26岁的男子被指控在纽约市中心希尔顿酒店外枪杀殁年50岁的Thompson。法庭周二拒绝了Mangione的保释请求。
法官David Consiglio给了被告14天来提交反对引渡的文件。宾夕法尼亚将有30天的时间让纽约州州长提出引渡请求。
纽约当局在解封的逮捕令中指控Mangione谋杀和非法持有武器等罪名。他目前被宾州当局以携带无证枪支和出示假身份证件等指控羁押。
在纽约，二级谋杀指控一经定罪量刑起点在15到25年入狱，最重可处以终身监禁。该指控属A级重罪，是纽约州法律规定的最严重类别罪行，其定义为表现出“对人命全然漠视”的故意杀人。
