0914 GMT - The penetration rate of AI-enabled PCs could accelerate to 65% in 2028 from 1%-2% in 2024, Morgan Stanley analysts say in a research note. AI PCs will likely gain traction due to their lower cost per query and latency, unlimited personalization, and greater privacy and security, the analysts say. They expect more mainstream x86 AI PC models to launch in 1H 2025 and Copilot+ to be available to x86 AI PCs in late 4Q to early 1Q. That should drive AI PC penetration and an overall enterprise refresh cycle, MS says. AI PCs could reduce the replacement cycle to 3.8 years in 2026-2027 from 4.7 years in 2024 and raise average selling prices by 7.5% this year, the analysts say. That should bode well for PC makers, they add. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
