(Bloomberg) -- Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Bhd. has concluded talks with Sarawak over the Borneo state’s bid to claim its local gas distribution rights, according to a report by national news agency Bernama, citing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said discussions between the Malaysian national oil company known as Petronas and Sarawak’s energy firm Petros have reached a clear decision, according to the report published Thursday. The government is still studying the parameters and legal implications, he added.

Sarawak exercised its claim to distribute gas within the state via Petros in July, taking over from Petronas which has held the rights for 50 years. Petronas and Petros then entered into talks over the matter, but negotiations dragged on for more than four months, beyond the initial deadline of Oct. 1.
