TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) targets to build an additional 1,100 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) by 2025. PLN Executive Vice President of Product Development Ririn Rachmawardini, stated that as of December 2024, Indonesia already has 2,667 SPKLU units and the number is projected to increase by the end of the year.

"In efforts to accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, PLN is ready to target an additional 1,100 SPKLU units by 2025," she stated in an official release, Friday, December 13, 2024.

In addition, PLN has also prepared EV Digital Services (EVDS) integrated within PLN Mobile. PLN also open to collaborations with various parties in developing SPKLU infrastructure across Indonesia to accelerate the overall growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that Indonesia is committed to accelerating the transition towards a green energy ecosystem. He believes the trend of using electric vehicles aligns with government policies to achieve energy self-sufficiency by making use of abundant new and renewable energy (EBT) sources domestically.

"The hope is that the development of the green ecosystem can help Indonesia achieve Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060," said Darmawan.

As one of the concrete steps, Darmawan and his team held a Media Roundtable even entitled Connext Powered by PLN with four startup companies to accelerate the development of the green energy ecosystem in the country. The four startup companies involved in the event, which was held last Tuesday, December 10, 2024, were Maka Motors, Dayagreen, Gree, and 360E.

Not only acting as a facilitator, PLN also leads the acceleration of EV technology development and renewable energy. This was conveyed by PLN's Executive Vice President of Corporate Business Development and Investment Abdan Hanif Satria.

Abdan expressed that the purpose of holding the Media Roundtable was a platform to share insights on the EV industry developments and technology innovations. PLN provides space for startups to grow while supporting broader green energy initiatives.

"By partnering with innovative startups, we aim to ensure that the green energy ecosystem in Indonesia continues to grow with progressive and sustainable solutions," Abdan said.
