TEMPO.CO, Banyuwangi - Indonesia's national airline Batik Air has reopened the Jakarta - Banyuwangi flight route and vice versa, starting December 29, 2024. The area located at the eastern tip of Java Island is predicted to be one of the destinations of choice for tourists for the Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru).
General Manager of Angkasa Pura Indonesia Banyuwangi Airport Branch Office, Johan Seno Acton, said that Batik Air will operate the Jakarta - Banyuwangi route and vice versa starting December 29, 2024. With a schedule from Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) at 11.20 WIB and arriving at Banyuwangi Airport (BWX) at 13.10 WIB. Meanwhile, for the reverse route, the plane will depart from Banyuwangi at 13.50 WIB and arrive in Jakarta at 15.35 WIB.
The airline, which is part of the Lion Air Group, will serve the Jakarta-Banyuwangi round-trip (PP) route every Friday and Sunday. "This will complement the two Jakarta-Banyuwangi flights so far. Currently, there are Citilink and Super Air Jet," said Johan in a written statement received by Tempo, Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Johan said that the return of Batik Air to open the Jakarta-Banyuwangi flight route was the result of coordination at a slot conference event attended by airport officials earlier this month. He hopes that flight occupancy will be high so that Batik Air can operate sustainably, not only during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"With the re-operation of Batik Air, it is hoped that it can provide additional airline choices for passengers and support Banyuwangi tourism," said Johan.
Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani welcomed the return of Batik Air which will complement the two flights in Banyuwangi that have existed so far. "Of course this will have a positive impact on Banyuwangi. Increased access to air transportation will certainly mean more people will visit Banyuwangi. It will have an impact on Banyuwangi's economy," said Ipuk.
