The Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research, a collaboration between LG and the University of Alaska Anchorage, opened specialized labs in Anchorage and Fairbanks to study cold-climate heat pump solutions, LG said last week.
The labs replicate real home environments to optimize heat pumps for temperatures as low as -40°F, with the help of LG Electronics' (KRX:066570) HVAC technologies, according to the release.
The initiative supports Alaska's goal of lowering fossil fuel dependency and is part of LG's broader global heat pump research network.
