-Honda Motor and Nissan Motor will enter negotiations toward a merger to build their competitiveness in the electric-vehicle market, Nikkei reported Tuesday.
--The companies began preparing for negotiations in March, and are planning to sign a memorandum of understanding soon, according to the report.
-They are considering operating under a holding company, and eventually hope to bring in Mitsubishi Motors, which would create one of the world's largest auto groups, the report said.
