The Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) for High-ranking Officials, South Korea's anti-corruption agency, summoned on Thursday impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol for questioning on Sunday over his brief martial law declaration on Dec. 3, Yonhap News reported the same day.
This marks the third summons after Yoon previously declined twice to comply, including one scheduled on Dec. 25. Yoon faces accusations of orchestrating insurrection and abusing his authority, with the probe jointly conducted by the CIO, police, and defense ministry investigators, the report said.
Yoon hasn't filed an attorney notice yet, focusing on his impeachment trial over the investigation, per Seok Dong-hyeon, Yoon's lawyer, according to a separate report filed by the news agency on Wednesday.
