Sector Update: Energy Stocks Decline in Thursday Afternoon Trading

Energy stocks fell in Thursday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) both shedding 0.2%.

The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector index gained 0.1%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities index eased 0.1%.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.3% to $69.89 a barrel, while global benchmark Brent shed 0.2% to $73.40 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures slumped 5.7% to $3.72 per 1 million BTU.

In corporate news, Berry (BRY) closed a debt refinancing, securing a $450 million term loan and a revolving credit agreement of up to $500 million. The shares fell 0.4%.

Eversource Energy (ES) said Tuesday it bought a 26-acre portion of the Mystic property in Massachusetts from Constellation Energy (CEG). Eversource shares rose 0.2% and Constellation eased 0.1%
