TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Director, Commissioner Latif Usman, said the police and joint personnel will deploy 1,500 personnel to secure the 2025 New Year’s Eve celebrations in Jakarta and surrounding areas.
“Comprises 900 Jakarta Metro police members and 600 regional units,” he said in a statement on Monday, December 30, 2024.
The personnel will guard several crowd-prone locations, including the Senayan Roundabout, Semanggi Interchange, HI Roundabout, Horse Statue Roundabout, Harmoni, and Ancol, as well as Taman Mini.
According to Latif, the Jakarta government has also prepared 12 locations for entertainment stages, located at the Panin Bank, SCBD, FX Sudirman, Orient Hotel, World Trade Center Sudirman, Wisma Nugra Santana, the Japanese Embassy, Sari Pacific, Horse Statue, UOB building, Dukuh Atas-JXB River, and the Banteng Field.
The police will apply traffic diversion along these roads starting 4:00 p.m.
Latif urges residents that intend to come to these venues to use public transportation, such as Transjakarta, MRT, KRL, and others.
Nevertheless, the police still prepare several designated parking areas for those traveling with private vehicles. These parking spots are located in Monas, BNI 46 buildings, Indosurya, UOB, Grand Thamrin City, Kenvinsky Hotel, Grand Hyatt, Plaza Indonesia, and Bawaslu.
People can also park at the Jaya building, Thamrin Tower, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, Pertamina Lubricant/Oil Center, Plaza Bank Indek/Plaza Permata, Wisma Nusantara/Pullman/Anex Building, Wisma Mandiri Hotel Sari Pacific, Cakrawala Tower, Sarinah, Sinar Mas, and the Wisma Kosgoro building.
Latif also warns the public to celebrate New Year's Eve safely, peacefully, and orderly. "Let's make this moment an opportunity to strengthen togetherness and build empathy for each other. The Jakarta Metro Police, together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), are fully committed to ensuring the celebration runs smoothly," he said.
