Singapore Shares Edge Higher, Tracking U.S. Futures -- Market Talk

0124 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index is 0.2% higher at 3793.59, tracking U.S. stock futures. 2024 was a record year for U.S. equities as investors cheered the start of the Fed rate cut cycle, the UOB Global Economics & Markets Research team writes in a note. Markets will likely turn their focus on the U.S. initial jobless claims data due later today, they add. Most REITs are up. Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust rises 1.1%, while Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust and CapitaLand Investment each gain 0.8%. Among decliners, Singapore Exchange is off 0.8%, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding drops 0.7% and Wilmar International is 0.3% lower. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
