据外媒介绍，美国前总统吉米·卡特的国葬从当地时间周六开始，曾保护卡特的特勤局特工担任灵车的抬棺人。
灵车将首先前往卡特的家乡普莱恩斯镇，依次途经卡特生前居住、生活和工作过的重要地点，最终抵达佐治亚州的州会——亚特兰大。当地时间周六下午，车队将先后到达佐治亚州国会大厦和卡特总统中心，分别举行仪式。周六晚上19点至下周一清晨6点，卡特的遗体将安置在灵堂，供民众前来吊唁。
随后，卡特的遗体将被运往华盛顿特区，安放在国会圆形大厅，直至周四上午10点在华盛顿国家大教堂举行国葬仪式，美国总统乔·拜登将发表悼词。之后将返回佐治亚州普莱恩斯，吉米·卡特将与他的妻子罗莎琳·卡特共同安葬于他的家乡普莱恩斯。
此前，白宫已宣布2025年1月9日为全国哀悼日，以悼念卡特。
当地时间2024年12月29日，美国前总统吉米·卡特逝世，终年100岁。拜登在当天的声明中下令在美国首都华盛顿哥伦比亚特区为吉米·卡特举行国葬。
