0751 ET - A foundation of firmer consumer spending remains intact this year, despite concerns of a fatigued consumer and still uneven quarter-to-quarter fluctuations, Mizuho analysts say in a research note. "2025 should be a year characterized by elevated headline risk under a new, very business-friendly administration," the analysts add. As such, Mizuho says its playbook leans toward names more insulated from trade tensions and those with the ability to "power through" market noise. The analysts also like names that are able to develop internal profitability drivers such as increasing the use of automation. Within this framework, Mizuho says it's upgrading both Chewy, it's overall top pick, and Tractor Supply to outperform from neutral. (sabela.ojea@wsj.com; @sabelaojeaguix)
