Market Chatter: HD Korea Shipbuilding Delivers 174,000-Cubic-Meter LNG Carrier

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KRX:009540) commenced its 2025 export activities with the delivery of a 174,000-cubic-meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier ordered in June 2022 by an Asian shipping company, Yonhap News reported Monday.

The vessel was completed in 2.5 years at the firm's affiliate HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries' shipyard in Yeongam, the report said.

Additional deliveries comprise a 16,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container ship and a 2,800 TEU container ship from affiliates HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (KRX:329180) and HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, respectively, it said.

Shares of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering rose nearly 3% in recent trade on Tuesday while those of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries increased over 1%.
