Honeywell International (HON) and NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) said Wednesday they have expanded partnerships to accelerate aviation product development and support the transition to autonomous flight.
The companies said the partnership builds upon their existing relationship, which has focused on optimizing building management systems for energy control and security.
Under the new initiative, Honeywell said it will combine its aerospace expertise with NXP's high-performance computing capabilities to develop AI-driven technologies to improve operational efficiency for flight planning and management.
It added it will leverage NXP processors like the i.MX 8 and S32N to provide intelligent, high-performance solutions for various aircraft needs.
Key advancements include cockpit displays featuring thinner, high-resolution screens and efforts to simplify the migration to newer avionics technologies.
