Ansys (ANSS) and Synopsys (SNPS) undertakings for the latter's proposed $35 billion takeover of Ansys may be accepted by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority under the Enterprise Act 2002, the regulator said Wednesday.

The undertakings involved divestment of certain operations, the regulator said.

In December 2024, the CMA said the proposed acquisition could reduce competition in the semiconductor chip design and light simulation software sector in the UK.

Ansys and Synopsys did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
