Cal-Maine Foods (CALM) shares jumped 5% in extended session Tuesday after reporting fiscal Q2 net income of $4.47 per diluted share, compared with $0.35 a year earlier.
Three analysts polled by FactSet, on average, expected $4.05.
Net revenue for the quarter ended Nov. 30 was $954.7 million, up from $523.2 million a year earlier.
Two analysts expected $751.5 million.
The egg producer also declared a quarterly dividend of $1.49 per share, up from $1.02 per share previously. The dividend is payable Feb. 13 to shareholders of record on Jan. 29.
