Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) said that its Bauxite Hills Mine in Queensland operated at and at times exceeded the expansion project target rate of 7 million wet metric tons (WMT) per annum in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
Despite challenging weather in December, the mine set a new annual shipment record of 5.7 million WMT, a 24% increase from 2023, the filing said.
The mine shipped 2.1 million WMT in Q4, with 480,000 WMT in December. Severe weather, including high waves and a two-day shutdown of the Ikamba terminal, disrupted some operations but the terminal's resilience allowed continued loading, the filing added.
The company aims to ship 6.5 million to 7 million WMT this year.
Shares of the company fell nearly 2% in recent Monday trade.
