GFL Environmental's (GFL) environmental services unit is close to being acquired by a consortium backed by Apollo Global Management (APO) and BC Partners, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

An agreement that may value the business at about C$8 billion ($5.6 billion), including debt, might be announced within days, the report said.

GFL is likely to keep an option to buy back the shares from Apollo and BC Partners at a later date, the report said.

Apollo, BC Partners and GFL declined to comment, Bloomberg said.

The companies didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
