Far Northern Resources (ASX:FNR) said that a rock chip and soil sampling testing at its Rocks Reef project in Queensland returned economically viable results that warrant further investigation, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

Rock chip samples at the Roadside Copper prospect returned results including 27.8 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold and about 18 g/t of gold.

It also reported 4.7 g/t of gold from rock chip samples at the Savannah Way and Single Peak prospects.

The firm plans to undertake more "systematic, detailed exploration work over higher-priority targets," including mapping and channel sampling, according to its managing director.
