Allstate $(ALL)$, Chubb $(CB)$, Progressive $(PGR)$ and Travelers $(TRV)$: The Los Angeles wildfires could be the costliest blaze in U.S. history, according to initial estimates. Insurance companies fell ahead of the bell, with Allstate down about 5%.
Advanced Micro Devices $(AMD)$ and Nvidia $(NVDA)$: The chip stocks fell in premarket trading. Bloomberg reported Thursday that the White House is planning another round of restrictions on the export of AI chips before President Biden leaves office.
UBS (UBS): The Swiss bank is close to a large settlement regarding violations by Credit Suisse of an earlier agreement with the U.S. Justice Department over American clients who evaded taxes. UBS U.S.-listed stock rose 1.5% premarket.
Earnings before the bell are due from Delta Air Lines $(DAL)$ Walgreens Boots Alliance $(WBA)$ and Constellation Brands $(STZ)$.
