Clothing Retailers Had a Jolly Holiday, Boosting Guidance for 4Q -- Market Talk

0945 ET - Clothing retailers are boosting their expectations after shoppers flocked to their stores over the holidays. Lululemon, American Eagle and Abercrombie were among the big retailers that provided early readouts of their holiday shopping results, and followed them with boosted expectations for the fourth quarter. The companies say they had good customer responses to their products and marketing over the key shopping period that includes Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the run-up to Christmas. Easing inflation and lower interest rates have also likely boosted sentiment among consumers who have been more budget-conscious in past years amid macroeconomic uncertainty.
