智通财经APP获悉，根据媒体看到的一份备忘录，为了削减成本，西南航空(LUV.US)正在暂停企业招聘，并暂停大部分暑期实习。西南航空首席执行官Bob Jordan在备忘录中表示：“我们在2024年取得了很大进展，我们有很多切实的动力。”他补充称，公司距离恢复行业领先的利润率的目标还有很长的路要走，“每一美元都很重要，因为我们将继续努力恢复卓越的财务业绩”。
在削减劳动力成本之前，西南航空上周决定出售和回租36架波音飞机，通过“将部分机队的剩余价值货币化”来保留现金。
受盈利能力下降、波音的飞机问题以及激进投资者Elliott Management对其管理不善的指责困扰，西南航空已采取行动解决其财务表现不佳的问题，并通过加速董事会主席Gary Kelly的退休、任命六名Elliott选择的新董事会成员、进行运营改革——包括增加红眼航班、新的座位政策，以及与欧洲航空公司建立全球合作伙伴关系等措施来安抚Elliott。
尽管这些措施帮助西南航空股价从去年夏天23.58美元的低点回升，但该股股价仍较大流行前下跌了30%。
