Market Chatter: HD Korea Shipbuilding Secures Key Certifications for Hydrogen Storage Tanks; Shares Rise 4%

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KRX:009540) received approval in principle for its vacuum insulation technology for liquefied hydrogen storage tanks from four global classification societies, The Korea Herald reported Tuesday.

The four classification societies are Lloyd's Register, the American Bureau of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, and the Korean Register.

In December 2024, the shipbuilder also secured the DNV certification for its shipboard liquefied hydrogen tank welding procedures, which indicated its expertise in material selection, verification, and welding techniques, the report said.

Shares of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering rose nearly 4% in recent trade.
