TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani said that President Prabowo Subianto agreed to seal the sea fence in the waters of Tangerang Regency, Banten. Muzani did not explain in detail the reasons why Prabowo agreed to the sealing. "He (Prabowo) has agreed to the sea fence, first, to seal it," said Ahmad Muzani when met at the MPR/DPR/DPD Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

In addition to approving the sealing, Ahmad Muzani conveyed another order expressed by Prabowo regarding the sea fence that was built along 30 kilometers. He said that the Head of State ordered the authorized government agencies to revoke and investigate the mastermind who built the sea fence. "Then secondly he ordered it to be revoked and then the case investigated," he said.

Ahmad Muzani said he did not know the investigation process carried out by government agencies regarding the sea fence. Including, said the Chair of the Consultative Assembly (MPR), the evaluation for the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 Jakarta project.

The unauthorized sea fence that has been installed since 2023 crosses the coastal areas of 16 villages in six sub-districts in Tangerang Regency. Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono ordered the Director General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Pung Nugroho Saksono to seal the sea fence on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

According to Pung, the sealing of the sea fence was based on an order from President Prabowo addressed to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. "The President has instructed. The state must not lose. We are here to seal it because it has disturbed the public, it has gone viral," he said as quoted by Antara.

Pung explained that sea fencing is an illegal activity if referring to the basic permit for the Suitability of Marine Space Utilization Activities (KKPRL). The fence is located in the Capture Fisheries Zone and Energy Management Zone which are regulated by the Regional Regulation of the Spatial Planning of the Banten Province DKP Number 2 of 2023.
