From what we can see, insiders were net buyers in Nine Energy Service, Inc.'s (NYSE:NINE ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders acquired the stock in greater numbers than they sold it.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Nine Energy Service

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider William Monroe bought US$1.9m worth of shares at a price of US$1.61 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$1.22). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was William Monroe.

William Monroe bought 2.63m shares over the last 12 months at an average price of US$1.43.
