0847 GMT - The U.K.'s FTSE 100 and Germany's DAX climb past their previous record closing highs after Chinese economic growth data and media reports that mining majors Rio Tinto and Glencore held talks for a potential deal. The FTSE 100 rises 1%, which would be a new record close if maintained until the end of the trading day. Mining stocks Antofagasta, Glencore and Anglo American are among the top gainers in London's blue-chip index, lifted by reports of the Rio Tinto-Glencore talks. Meanwhile, the DAX is up 0.5%, having closed at record highs in the past two sessions. Elsewhere, France's CAC 40 is up 0.8% and Spain's Ibex 35 rises 0.5%, while the broader Stoxx Europe 600 gains 0.5%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
