Lazard Asset Management is to build out a global ETF footprint after filing paperwork for five active ETFs in the US with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The firm's maiden ETF suite will cover emerging markets, Japan, international equity, equity megatrends and next generation technologies.

A Lazard AM spokesperson said: “Our initial focus is on bringing ETFs to the US market, which we plan to do in 2025.

“We are taking a methodical approach to growing our ETF presence and will share plans for other regions in the future.”

ETF Stream understands that global head of ETFs Rob Forsyth is set to establish a team over the coming year, including roles in capital markets, fund operations and marketing.

Forsyth was previously global head of ETF strategy at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA).

The firm's ambition to develop a global presence in ETFs will see it follow other US asset managers including Janus Henderson, which entered European ETFs last year after building out a '40-Act' product suite
