Burberry Expected to Post Sales Drop Despite Better Trends in China -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1253 GMT - Burberry could post improving trends in China, but sales are expected to decline, Barclays analysts write in a note. The analysts expect the U.K. luxury group, which is scheduled to publish results for its fiscal third quarter on Friday, to report a 13% decline in retail sales. After last week's release of Richemont's stronger-than-expected revenue results for its fiscal third quarter, Burberry's print will provide further indication about trends in the luxury space, the Barclays analysts say. Comments around the performance in the Americas and Europe will be a key focus after the Swiss group's outstanding results in these two markets, they add. Shares are down 1% at 984 pence.
