好市多的卡车司机工会成员已投票决定罢工，投票结果显示85%的成员支持罢工。这一决定是在公司月底谈判新劳动合同的最后期限之前做出的。工会在一份声明中指出：“此次投票直接表明该公司未能进行建设性谈判，并拒绝提供反映公司创纪录利润的公平合同报价。”
目前的劳动合同涵盖超过18,000名开市客员工，将于1月31日到期。最后一轮谈判将于1月20日开始。
卡车司机工会主席肖恩·奥布莱恩(Sean O'Brien)表示：“从一开始就明确告诉开市客，如果没有达成具有历史意义的、业界领先的协议，我们的会员们将不会在1月31日之后工作一天。”
此外，他还警告称：“好市多贪婪的高管们只有不到两周的时间来做正确的事情。”
值得一提的是，好市多工会员工上周在全国范围内进行了模拟示威活动，为可能的罢工做准备，其中包括在长岛和圣地亚哥的活动。
