Santander Reviews Options for U.K. Business, Financial Times Says, Citing Sources

-- Santander is exploring strategic options to for its U.K. operations, including exiting the market, the Financial Times reports, citing unnamed sources.

-- The Spanish bank's review is at an early stage and stems from frustration from its high cost base, the U.K.'s ring-fencing of its retail-banking activities, its independent board, among others, the FT reports.

-- Santander told the FT that the U.K. is a core market for the lender.
