利用DNA评估生物多样性的英国初创公司获2500万美元融资
帮助客户评估自然影响的英国初创公司NatureMetrics Ltd完成2500万美元（2040万英镑）B轮融资，该公司称这笔资金将助力公司扩张，以实现自给自足的盈利目标。
本轮融资由美国前副总统阿尔·戈尔（Al Gore）创立的Generation Investment Management旗下投资机构Just Climate领投，EDF Pulse Ventures和Monaco ReOcean Fund参投，并获得了此前投资者的支持。
NatureMetrics通过采集环境DNA（eDNA，即生物体脱落的遗传物质）样本，为客户提供了解土地和水域状况的工具及框架。该公司还开发了一个平台，将eDNA数据与其他数据源（如卫星监测数据、传统实地观测数据以及生物声学等新兴工具获取的信息）进行整合，可展示一个项目的生物多样性状况随时间发生的变化。公司的战略部门负责协助客户将数据转化为决策依据。
与Nature Metrics合作过的大公司包括英美资源（Anglo American Plc）、乐购（Tesco Plc）、Salesforce Inc．、地中海邮轮（MSC Cruises）及EDF Renewables Inc．
“生物多样性不应成为可持续发展工作中的一项例行公事，”NatureMetrics首席执行官迪普尔·帕特尔（Dimple Patel）表示。她指出，忽视生物多样性可能会造成致命后果，尤其是对依赖自然资源的企业而言：“从根本上讲，当土壤的生物多样性消亡时，农作物产量必然会随之下降。”
帕特尔表示，新投资带来的增长有望推动公司在明年实现盈亏平衡，从而结束公司对风险投资的依赖。
随着全球对生物多样性危机的关注日益增强，NatureMetrics迎来了良好的发展契机。目前该公司已拥有逾600家客户，业务覆盖110个国家，其中不少客户的总部都位于欧洲。NatureMetrics成立于2014年，在此之前已筹集3070万美元。
