智通财经APP获悉，希腊能源部周一表示，美国石油生产商雪佛龙(CVX.US)表示有兴趣在希腊伯罗奔尼撒半岛(Peloponnese)西南部勘探碳氢化合物。
能源部的声明还表示，它将在本周就确切的勘探区域做出决定，并将很快启动国际招标。“这是一个非常重要的发展，是我们能源独立和降低能源成本的国家战略的一部分。”
俄乌冲突以及对欧洲天然气供应的担忧，迫使欧盟想方设法减少对俄罗斯天然气的依赖。这增加了希腊利用国内资源的需求。
在提高可再生能源产能的过程中，希腊将天然气视为一种过渡燃料。该国过去曾生产少量石油，并试图探索其碳氢化合物的潜力。
