智通财经APP获悉，美国联邦贸易委员会(FTC)宣布，通用汽车(GM.US)及其子公司OnStar因未经用户同意出售用户位置和驾驶行为数据，因此对其进行处罚，包括在五年内禁止向消费者报告机构披露用户数据。
据悉，此前有媒体调查发现，通用汽车一直在偷偷收集有关其客户驾驶行为习惯的数据，例如脚法和行程等信息，然后将其出售给保险公司和LexisNexis和Verisk等第三方数据经纪商。这导致许多客户的保险费出人意料地增加，他们没有意识到自己的驾驶习惯被监视和共享。
FTC主席Lina M. Khan表示：“通用汽车监控并出售人们的精确地理位置数据和驾驶行为信息，有时甚至三秒(监控)一次。”“通过这一行动，FTC正在保护美国人的隐私，保护人们免受不受限制的监视。”此外，该和解协议还要求通用汽车在收集客户驾驶行为数据之前征得客户的同意，并允许根据司机的意愿限制或删除他们的数据。
