eBay (EBAY) announced Thursday it is collaborating with Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI to integrate artificial intelligence advancements into its e-commerce platform, marking a step toward agent-based online shopping.
Financial details weren't disclosed.
The partnership focuses on OpenAI's AI agent, Operator, which acts as a virtual assistant to autonomously help users shop and discover unique items on eBay, the company said in a blog post.
The collaboration aims to expand the reach of eBay sellers and enhance the online shopping experience, the company said, adding that it plans to further develop its AI capabilities to empower buyers and support sellers in growing their businesses.
eBay and OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
